Pat Utomi Says Nigeria Classical Example Of Country Walking Towards Failure
Renowned economist Prof. Pat Utomi has given his take on Nigeria. He said Nigeria is a classical example of a nation edging towards failure. He made this admission in an alumni association meeting of the University of Nsukka in Akwa, Anambra state.
The erudite professor said Nigeria would also be heading towards anarchy if she does not invest in education and in the wellbeing of her future generations.
According to him, “Any society that is not investing in the education and well being of its future generation is seriously heading towards anarchy, “Nigeria is a classic example of a country that is walking towards failure; the society fails largely because people like you have not done the needful to sustain the country.
“And so, when alumni of an institution that means something to the making of the nation does not realise its duty, the possibility is that history will hold them to account.”
Professor Utomi however said that part of the solutions especially to avert the looming danger is for the members of the alumni as well as other stakeholders to contribute their own quota in the building of a brighter economic future especially for the younger generations and that they must ensure that they don’t fail in their leadership positions.
“If you fail to show leadership, instead of reaping the demographic dividend, we will reap secession or anarchy, especially when youths lose confidence in the leadership,” he said.
